Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does it cost to order My Skoobi notebooks?
For orders of less than 20 notebooks, the cost is $6 per 6”x9” notebook and $7 per 8 ½” x 11” notebook. If there are 20 or more notebooks in your order, the cost per book drops by $1 each. If there are 60 or more books in your order, the cost per book drops by $2 each.
  • Can I order more copies?
Yes! If you would like more copies of the same notebooks – same outside, same inside – there is a re-order option in your account. Or, just email us at and put “REORDER” in the subject heading. We will ask you for the notebook identification number, which is on the back cover of your notebook. If you would like to order more copies of your notebook but want to change the inside (for example, if you ordered your notebooks with lines the first time, but now you would like blank pages) you will need to go back into the order system and upload your art again. TIP: If you think you will be ordering more notebooks with different inside page types later, it’s a great idea to order one of each at the time of your first order. Then you can just re-order using the book numbers on the back, and avoid having to upload your art again.  Remember, shipping is free on orders of 1-3 notebooks.
  • How big are the notebooks?
There are two trim sizes, 6”x9” and 8 ½” x 11”. All notebooks contain 100 pages.
  • How many pages are the notebooks?
Every My Skoobi notebook contains 50 sheets for 100 page surfaces.  The exception is the calendar year day planner, which is 54 sheets or 108 page surfaces.
  • What is the finish on the covers – glossy or matte?
My Skoobi notebooks are finished with a glossy laminate: they look wonderful and can be easily wiped off. The covers are 4 colour 10 point Carolina Card Stock, Coated 1 side, SFI certified, with Gloss Lamination.
  • What styles of paper are available for inside the notebooks?

    There are four interior choices:
1 Diary type: Calendar Year Day Planner
3 Classic notebooks: lined, blank, half lined.

  • What if I want a paper type that you do not offer?
Email us at and we'll see what we can do.
  • How long will it take before my books arrive?

Notebooks are printed within 7 business days of receiving your order, and are shipped the day after printing. 98% of orders arrive well within two weeks of the day the order is placed.  You can select express 2-day shipping to speed things up.

  • What kind of paper do you use?
The inside pages are 50lb uncoated bright paper stock.  It's heavy enough for ink and felt pen, but it's not heavy enough for watercolour painting.
  • What kind of binding do you use?

You have a choice of perfect bound or coil binding.

If you want notebooks which will present the best, choose perfect bound. This a professional binding process that uses thermal activation, gluing the pages together at the spine with a strong flexible glue. This binding is very sturdy and, well, perfect!  It's the kind of binding that you find on wellmade paper back books at the book store.

For notebooks and diaries that you want to lay flat, choose "coil binding". The book is held together by a flexible coil which allows the pages to open completely. You will have seen this binding on most planners and diaries as it is easier to have open on a table or desk than the perfect bound books.

  • Can I use any art that I want to?
Yes, as long as you have the legal right to use that artwork. See our “Terms and Conditions”.
  • Does My Skoobi take ownership of my art?
No. My Skoobi does not own your artwork, we simply provide a printing service to you. When you use our service to print your notebooks, you give us the right to print only to fill your order, and you agree to accept our terms and conditions. This also means that you assume full responsibility for any copyright issues that may arise.
  • Can I put a barcode on my notebook jacket?
Yes. If you include a barcode in the art that you upload My Skoobi will print it as supplied. Be careful not to put the barcode in the place where the My Skoobi logo will go on the back of your cover: check this when you preview your artwork. Or, you can sticker a barcode onto your notebook jacket once you receive the printed books.
  • Can I put an ISBN on my notebook?
Yes. If you include an ISBN in the art that you upload My Skoobi will print it as supplied. Be careful not to put the ISBN in the place where the My Skoobi logo will go on the back of your cover: check this when you preview your artwork.
  • Can I put text on the cover artwork?
You can put text on the cover using our editing tools in the design process.  If you want to add more text than the tools allow, or if you want to put it in places we won't let you go, then you can use a design software such as Microsoft Paint or Picasa to create your files first.  Any copy that is on the art you upload/in the jpeg file, will be printed on your notebook as supplied.
  • Can I put my own logo on the book jacket?
Yes. If you include a logo in the art that you upload My Skoobi will print it as supplied. Be careful not to put the logo in the place where the My Skoobi logo will go on the back of your cover: check this when you preview your artwork.
  • Can I sell my notebooks?
Absolutely. As long as you have the legal right to the art that you used on your notebook cover, you can sell the notebooks for any price you like. That’s a big part of the reason we have kept our prices so low: so fundraisers, artists and entrepreneurs can earn money creating and selling My Skoobi notebooks in their community or online.
  • Can I remove the My Skoobi logo from the book jacket?
No, sorry, the My Skoobi logo stays put.
  • Do you offer Gift Certificates?
No, not yet, but we will in future.
  • Do you ship internationally?
Our shopping cart does not currently support international currencies. However, if you have an international order of 20 books or more, please contact us at and we will process your order manually. Please indicate INTERNATIONAL ORDER in the subject heading.
  • Will the bulk order discount apply if I order more notebooks later?
The bulk discount applies at time of order only: the quantity must be reached in a single order to qualify for the $1 or $2 per book discount. This applies even if every book in your order is different!
  • Can I only order 1 book at a time?
Sure. We print your notebooks to order, so any quantity is ok with us. You will find that you can save time and money by ordering a quantity though, either by the pricing discounts we offer for larger orders, or by reduced shipping fees.
  • Is there a maximum order amount?
We can print as many as you need. Contact us before ordering if you want to order more than 200 copies of the same notebook – we can provide a discount on pricing for large orders.
  • Can I put photography on my notebook cover instead of art?
Well, of course, photography IS art. And yes, you can upload a digital photograph as easily as you can upload a digitized drawing or painting.
  • Should my image files be in CMYK or RGB?
  • Why do I have to pay 5% tax?
My Skoobi is a Canadian company based in British Columbia. All books sold in BC to Canadian customers are subject to a 5% Tax.  Tax is not charged on U.S. orders.
  • I don’t have a scanner – can I send you the artwork instead?

No, we're sorry, but we can't accept original artwork. There are lots of ways to get your work scanned though. Big chains like Staples have scanning services, and smaller stationary stores do too.  It doesn't cost much: less than the cost of mailing it to us would have been, and you don't have to worry about us returning it to you.

  • Can I order a different binding?

For now, we only offer two bindings inside our cart: perfect bound and coil binding. If there is some other kind of binding process you want to use, we can do that for you as a special order. Just contact us directly.

  • Are your prices in Canadian or US dollars?
Canadian. If you are a U.S. customer, your credit card company will convert your payment to US funds on your billing statement.
  • Do you have an affiliate program?
We are developing an affiliate program by invitation only. If you are interested in being a My Skoobi affiliate, please contact Lisa Stevens at
  • Can I get free samples?
My Skoobi offers free samples to teachers and fundraisers – you can fill out the Free Sample Request form on the “Help” page of our website and we will contact you. If you would like samples, we encourage you to simply make your own: at the starter price of only $6 and free shipping, there is very little cost to getting a My Skoobi notebook and testing out the process.  There's no better way to check it out than by making your own personal test book.
  • Can I buy notebooks made by others?

We may be providing that service in future. In the meantime, here’s a link to some beautiful My Skoobi notebooks created by Dayna Langlois.

  • Do you provide design services?
Yes, we will help you design. Just send us an email at and let's talk.  Generally we charge $20 per cover to design, add text, etc.  If you're ordering a large number of books, it's well worth it.
  • Where do I find the book number? (or, Hey What’s that number on the back of my notebook?)
On the back cover of your notebook you will see a 3-part number that tells us the order and configuration of your notebook. That helps us keep track of your notebooks when we’re printing and shipping, and you’ll need it if you want to order more copies.
  • Why can I only choose the "pick-up" option for Victoria, BC?
The lucky people in Victoria live in our hometown, so we can arrange pick-up. For everyone else, we have to ship. Our print facilities are in multiple locations in the USA and Canada, and we will ship from inside your own country.
  • I started my order and saved it for later, and now I can’t find my notebooks! Where did they go?
If you started working on one computer and tried to continue working on a different computer, your art images will not appear because the shopping cart recognizes you based on your IP address. Your images should still be in your account if you go back to work on the original computer. If you have your security settings on your computer set to blocking or deleting cookies, then our website can't recognize you when you come back.  IMPORTANT: We do not save your designs if you leave our website before completing your order. We only save your images, so you'll need to start your designs from scratch if you leave in the middle.
  • I can't get my image to upload: the progress bar is moving, but the process doesn't complete.
This happens occasionally: sometimes browsers make updates that can impact the upload process. We try to keep on top of this moving target. Switching browsers usually fixes the problem. Try Safari or Firefox. Or send us an email at
